My audio interface is from the digital outs on the G5 to a Rosetta 200. While using the audio core drivers for Logic Pro, Abelton Live, Reason and Garage Band, I am hearing a hiss noise from the digital I/O via toslink.

There is not much feed back regarding the matter, but does anyone knows anything about hiss noises from the G5?

Any in put would be appreciated.

As I understand it, its basically impossible to get mechanical noise off a digital connection.

- Do you experience noise when no sound is being played?

- Do you experience noise when playing a CD through the optical drive or via iTunes?

- Do you have another DAC you can can plug in?

- If you plug the output of the G5 into the input on the G5 and select the digital in as the input device, does the level meter spike at all? (Also, you can use quartz compositor and possibly some other tools to check the actual level of the line, even if its very low)

Just trying to narrow it down to the hardware, drivers, software, etc.
