I sold my sawtooth G4 which gave me enough funs to get the base model core duo mini, is it wise to get a mini at this stage of the game or should i wait and see if they update the mini with the merom chips. Suggestions Plz. I have a white keyboard and mighty mouse and a 17" LCD to go with the mini.

I'm sure they will upgrade the Mini to Merom eventually. But it won't be before 6 months from now. The Mini is already upgradeable to Merom. If you are tight on cash, check the refurb store soon for a 1.66GHz Core Duo model, which will probably be $499 or $549.

I would also get the mini Core Duo, they are pretty fast. The Core Solo is good for email and web browsing too, if that is what you need it for.

The minis were given a small update along with the new iMacs. Both models now sport the Core Duo processor (NOT Core 2 Duo).
So unless you need 64-bit or the marginal bump in processor speed, now's a good time to get a Mac Mini.

I do some photoshop work, some light video editing and web browsing and email and gaming, I plan on installing bootcamp on it as well, with windows xp SP2, Ive been on a heavily upgraded G4 sawtooth for about 2 years now and its just not cutting it speedwise. Looks like monday morning ill be going to get a mini
