When I look at the specs on PC's there are various core duo chips out in the market... ranging from cheep celleron to fancy Xenon and they are all running the same of similar clock rates. they even seem to have various chips, with differnt model numbers ( and therefor speed I would assume), within each chip group.

Apple specifies with the Mac Pro Xenon, and now with the new Merom iMac, which chip family but not the chip model number... and...

My real question is, what model/chip family of core duo processors, is in the Mac Book Pro and... is it the same model(s) that's in the Mac Book?

Curious,

H

Since you're posting in the Power Mac & Mac Pro forum, I'll start there. The new Mac Pro line sports Intel Xeon "Woodcrest" processors from the 5100 series: the 5130 (2.0GHz), 5150 (2.66GHz), and the 5160 (3.0GHz).

The current chip powering the MacBook Pro and the MacBook is the Intel Core Duo "Yonah" chip: T2400 (1.83GHz), T2500 (2.0GHz), and the T2600 (2.16GHz).

It's expected that the MacBook Pro will soon step up to the "Merom" chip, a mobile dual-core 64-bit chip.
