hi, i posted this some time ago but didn't see any responses. does anyone have any easy/difficult is it to replace the internal HD in these new Core2Duo iMacs? And is the difficulty at all different between the 17", 20", and 24" models? i've cracked open Macs before to install RAM, but haven't (yet at least) attempted any major surgeries, and am wondering how feasible HD replacement is.

tx,
ox

I don't think it's that easy . . . you have to get pretty deep into the iMac to replace the hard drive . . .

If you are thinking of upping the HD space within the warranty period, I'd either BTO the 500Gb (I did), or look for a decent external solution.

thanks -- i am aware of BTO or external options, but neither of those are for me. has anyone actually any experience with getting at the internal drive?

i wish ifixit would post a guide, but for some reason they have just about every other Mac system but the iMac and MacPro.
