Hello,
I need help with a problem. I tried to upload a CD today that was sent from a PC user. I was told it contained PDFs, and we figured I would be able to read it. The computer takes 10-15 minutes to read the disk, then tells me it has 0 items and 0 memory available. Okay, so I tried to eject it. It will not eject. I have tried restarting with the x held down, with the c held down, with the mouse button held down, with o and f held down. I have tried F12. I have tried option alt and the Escape button. None of these work. I also tried going into itunes and ejecting the disk from there. Itunes froze and I had to do a forced quit.
I cannot simply shut the machine down either. I have to use the power button or the computer freezes. When I do start the computer back up, I do not hear the restart tone even when I unplug the computer and leave it for 2 hours. I tried looking for the disk in Disk Utility and the disk utility froze up. When I click the disk in the desktop menue, the message reads that it cannot open the alias, because the original cannot be found.
Everything on the computer seems a little slower now, and starting up the computer requires 15 minuites while the computer tries to read the disk.
I'm at wits end. Can anyone please help me?
I am on a G-4 with 10.3.9 software.

CD drives have a manual eject. However, since I don't know the make or the model, I cannot say where this button is located. Take a look here or here for example.
Usually there is a small hole located somewhere near the drive tray (take a look at the picture). Take a paper clip and insert it into the hole. Usually it requires some force (≠ brute force!).

Thank you Oreo,
I tried looking for a manual eject hole earlier, but I couldn't find one. After surfing the Apple help topics, I found a couple cases where people had asked where it was and were told there was none on a G-4. I'll look again.
Is this sufficient info on the model type:
Machine Model: Power Mac G4 (AGP graphics)
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (2.9)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 450 MHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 1 MB
Memory: 896 MB
Bus Speed: 100 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 3.2.4f1

Well, we need info on your DVD/CD drive.
Since pressing the mouse button during start-up doesn't work, I guess the drive itself is to blame.

You have a sawtooth so there is a flip down cover over the CD drive. Push on the bottom of the cover and the top will start to open. Pull it down and you can see the CD drive and the manual eject will be somewhere near the button as Oreo mentioned.
