No guarantees, but Apple seem to be moving to Seagate - I've seen alot of people with 250 and 500GB drives say that their drives are 7200.9s.

Apple has always used drives from every vendor. It's impossible to predict with accuracy what brand you'll get.

Thanks for the input, just wanted to get a feel for it, hopefully they aren't using WD drives(bad experiences) Seagate would be great.

Western Digital has learned from experience and seems to have their act together now. The bad experiences I've had with WD drives have all been thermal-they needed more cooling than the cases I had them in provided. But the company did make good on every warranted drive I (and my PC-building friend) had problems with. I've heard the same sort of "I don't like brand X because I had problems with them" stuff about Maxtor recently, and they've been more reliable for me than WDs.
With all that said, Segate is moving strongly back into the consumer world. They bought Maxtor and are acting like a big player with lower prices and lots of performance. AND they're raising the bar on SATA drive performance and capacity per dollar, so I think we'll see a lot of Segate drives in new computers for a while.

It's good to hear that about WD, and I didn't know about Seagate buying Maxtor, that's also good to know as I've had a bad experience w/ them too. I've been pretty partial to seagate and Hitachi latley and have been very impressed.

Yeah, FWIW, the 250GB drive in my 20" C2D is a WD.
