I'm looking for some advice here - basically should I call Apple and ask to have my new 24" iMac declared dead on arrival? Is anyone else having problems?
I get flashes on the screen, and frequently it starts breaking up into squiggly lines and the whole system crashes and dies completely. It gets fropzen and the only way out is a hard reboot.
This is usually in graphics intensive environments, eg Second Life, a 3D online game. It also happens at start up a few times. It has even happened while in Bootcamp (while playing the Windows client of Second Life) - so I don't think it's a software issue.
Could it be a faulty graphics card?

24' iMac, 2GB RAM, Core 2 Duo, 256MB Nvidia 7600GT graphics card, 250MB hard drive.

Whatever it is it sounds bad. I'd just bring it to an Apple Store and have them replace it.

Have it declared it DOA right away and get a replacement.
