Hi Everyone - I have a dual 2GHZ PowerMac G5, and the superdrive that shipped with the unit no longer reads DVDs, DVD-R, or DVD-RW or anything DVD. I purchased a Pioneer internal DVD/CD writer to replace it, but when installed the drawer won't open. It appears to be a couple of millimeters too high in the front, so the G5's optical drive cover doesn't slide down to allow the tray to open.

Is there a web site that lists what drives are compatible? Or any tips?

Your replacement drive lacking enough room to open freely is pretty common with some G4 Power Mac models -MDD & QS-, the only thing you have to do is to remove the front bezel from the new SuperDrive you have there, I had to do it to get mine (also a Pioneer) working fine (open & close tray) with my Power Mac G4 MDD.

You should be able to pull the dvd drive front bezel applying a vertical force form the bottom side to the upper side, much like if you were removing some RAM module(s) albeit you are going to push the bezel from the bottom side.
