Hi, all

I have a iMac 20' 2.0g intel core duo, is it possible to upgrade it to higher speed Core 2 duo processor? if it can, will there be any heat problem?




my system iMac 2.0g core duo 20' 2gb 250g,
Macbook 2.0g 1.25gb [white]

It is most likely possible, and no, there shouldn't be any heat problems. Keep in mind, however, that you'll void your warranty doing so.

Yes, if you use the Merom model, that is Core 2 Duo for mobiles, model number 5000 something or 7000 something, for socket M. DO NOT use the cheaper desktop Conroe models, number 4000 something or 6000 something, for socket LGA 775 - they won't fit. Should not cause any heat problems, the TDP is similar (35W compared to 25W)

I've read that you can upgrade, but be forewarned that you WILL have issues
