I just installed the leopard beta on my Mac Pro, and it started up in about a minute. Then in software update, that developer preview update showed up, so I installed it, and then restarted. It's been sitting on the grey screen with the apple and the spinning thing for over 10 minutes already.

I remember when leopard was installed on my brothers imac it took a LONG time to start up the first time, but not this long.

Just in case it has anything to do with it, it's worth mentioning that I dropped about two dozen quicktime codecs into library/quicktime from my 10.4.8 startup disk into the leopard startup disk. Could this be the cause?

I'm sitting here waiting with it hanging on the grey screen, so i'd appreciate fast responses.

Thanks!

I have no idea. It is, after all, a developer-only early beta preview release. Could just be a bug.

I forced it to shut down and then started it up again. No problems. ??

Don't take this the wrong way MacGeek but are you actually a developer for the Macintosh platform and has Apple granted you an authorized copy of Leopard for you and your sibling? You're asking the forum for Leopard support on technical issues when the majority of us not only don't have a copy but we are not suppose to.

It's possible this is related to the fact that Leopard is nowhere near being released, and is generally considered to be quite unstable in its current state. Pretty much anything could have made it go weird.

Leopard would be considered Warez on this board. Either that or you just violated your NDA.
