I'd go for it. PPC will be supported for the next 3+ I believe.

I have the MacBook Core Duo 2.0 and the iMac G5 2.0.

The MacBook is much faster in video encoding and stuff, and of course is portable. However, the iMac is much better for most general desktop usage because of the large screen, and it doesn't hurt that stuff like Office is native on the iMac but not on the MacBook.

ie. It really depends on what you want. 20" desktop or 12" portable?

Yes. It is a very hardy machine. Max the RAM and it will work just as good.

2011 at least:

2007: 10.5
2009: 10.6
2011: 10.7

I betcha more like 2013 actually.

I have a Cube, released 6 years ago, and it is supported in 10.5 Leopard.
