Hey Everyone . . i just wanted to let everyone know that the 24" iMac I just got went through some major wireless issues last night . . . anytime I would try to connect to my network, I got an "error joining network" message . . . during this whole time, I had my macbook next to me fully connected . . . it was quite frustrating because I didn't know what to do . . . . I don't even know where to start to look for the problem ( i was getting to the point of getting some aluminum foil) . . . .

just wanted to give everyone a heads up . .

I just wanted to let everyone know that my iMac 24" is working perfectly on my wireless network. No problems at all.

Same here, although I only tested it briefly. I'm on wired most of the time with my 24-incher.

On the assumption that your problem really is with the iMac, I'll leave this here for now.

If your system is working fine now, then you ran into something I'll call a transient glitch for want of a better term. That means that you managed to get all the bits lined up just wrong and something stopped working for a while. Odds are that it won't happen again. And it wasn't "you" necessarily that did anything; a neighbor may have been using a particularly powerful 2.4GHz cordless phone and that could have messed with your networking.

I've seen reports of all sorts of "this doesn't work on the 24" iMac!!!" issues, but wireless networking is not such an issue. If you still have the problem, let's go to the Networking forum and get lots of people who are LOOKING FOR NETWORKING ISSUES to think about your problem, ok?

well, i've read on the apple discussion forums that it's more to do with the new intel c2d imacs and the 10.4.8 update . . . i had a macbook right next to it running on the same network and the wireless connection never dropped . .

I am having the exact same issue with a client's setup. Brand new 24" iMac, Airport Extreme plugged into the cable modem. My MacBook connects perfectly and the iMac can see the Airport Network as it is listed in the Airport drop down menu in the Menu Bar. Only thing is that is cannot connect to the internet. It shows a full 4 solid black signal bars, the Airport Express is approximately 10' away from the iMac and running WPA Personal. Again, the MacBook sees and connects perfectly and the iMac can even connect to a neighbor's open wireless network and get internet access from their Linksys wireless router.

So... anyone else have ideas? I have tried most every setting configuration you can imagine, restarted the devices multiple times, reset the AEX base, etc and all remains the same.

Another strange thing... if I plug the cable modem into my MacBook and set it up to work as a Software Base Station, then the iMac can see it and connect to the internet just fine. It just refuses to pass the internet connection through when using the AEX base.
