I have the dual G5 powermac 2.5 ghz and it's been almost 2 yrs since i owned it. The one thing that's bothered me (and probably most power mac owners) is the constant fans going, thus assuming the processors run extremely hot.

I will come home, and my house is somewhat ventilated properly, air circulation is great, but where my mac is, it will raise the temperature of the room almost 3 to 5 degrees and the fans are humming like crazy.

Is there a solution to this noise level? I use to have the machine in my room, but i could not sleep with it on (even with no programs running) because the fans were so damn loud.

Is there an aftermarket fan(s) i can purchase and install that's much quieter?

Another question would be... are the MacIntel Pro towers still loud too?

Mac Pros are quieter, a la user reports. You may be able to find quieter fans on newegg.com.

I would go this route, however:
Melamine Foam Sound Proofing for the Computer Case - PCSTATS.com

If you Google around, you may be able to find a kit of properly sized foam pads to put in your Power Mac to make it quiet.
