I recently shut down my Imac g5, waited a few seconds and then moved it to another room to view a DVD. When it was starting up I slid the DVD into the computer for some reason. It goes through startup and only spins the color wheel and does not build the desktop. Clock freezes at time of startup.

I started from the installer cd and ran repair disk permissions and repair disk and then verified the disk.
I cleared the p-ram by option+apple+p+r and let it chime 3 times. I can not force quit to restart the finder. I upgraded from 10.3.7 to 10.3.9 a few weeks ago.

Any suggestions? Can I reinstall 10.3.7 from the cd and still keep all of my files and apps?? I might try to run disk warrior on it at a friends tomorrow. Any help appreciated. Thanks !!!

I would Try holding SHIFT at start up to boot in Safe Boot mode, I doubt it will work, if not you can try ProSoft's Drive Genius, it's a 50/50 shot.

and last off you can do a reinstall MAKE sure you use the archive and install option NOT the erase and install..... it will force you to beacuse you have a newer version of os x than the disc...

take care.
I hope I was helpful, if not please help me.....
