perhaps some have not seen this ref:

Hardmac.com : Le "Macbidouille" in English

its a fine site with usefull info.

months ago when there was a shortage of the BiG heat sinks and Crucial asked for my order back ( pre BiG heat sink) and then the price went up

I got kingstons with normal heat sinks, 4GB (4 X 1)

still very quiet!

cheers

Best of luck. Many others have done the same thing, only to discover ECC errors being reported by System Profiler, application crashes, etc.

The article had no mention of checking for ECC errors nor did they mention what the ambient temperature was. Overall, it seemed quite un-scientific. Personally, I would definitely spend the extra cash for RAM with larg sinks just for the peace of mind.

Cheers again

I ment no disrespect by adding this link but I feel the Noise issue is different than the heat isue, seeing the past in the G4's ( Ihave 2) and G5's

so far for 2 months or so Ihave no errors and Icheck.

again thats not the same as having 8 x 2GB

I just feel for the run of the mill user the issue is over blown.

My machine is always on and had no problems (yet!)

we will all see if noise vs heat means anything

I do appreciate your replies!!

cheers again
