Hello, I am new to the mac community, I just got my first MAC on an impulse buy and I absolutley love it. I just have one question, it is about a 5 days old, and I hear this very low but quick ticking noise at all times when the computer is on? is this normal? I tried searching for an answer but I couldn't find anything that directly related to my problem

I wonder if it is your CPU fan or case fan that is unbalanced or something. -Maybe even a noisy HD.

You iMac should be almost dead quiet.

I would call the place of purchase about the problem. Even send them a video with audio.

-take you iMac back and have them fix it or trade for another. Take care of this problem right away, do not wait a month.

See my post about my Teats up iMac. Mine is being replaced because of the ticking and it sounded like they have heard of the problem before.

Call Apple and get it corrected. Not sure if it was due to my Applecare or just warranty service, but a new iMac is on the way.
