I recently installed a Panasonic DVD/CD reader/writer on my old G4 Mac as a replacement for the original CD-R/W. Everything went fine, and I used the DVD player to load up OS X Tiger, which also went fine. However, after 10.4 was loaded on, the DVD player always fails to recognize disks (either CD or DVD) that I insert. I tried re-installing the old CD player, and the same thing! I re-started the computer using the old operating system (10.1), but still no dice!! Anybody have a suggestion(s) as to what I should try next? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
