I had this mini 1.5 core solo hooked up to my plasma as a media center. Well my g4 1 ghz powermac is now getting to be to slow for me. I then put the mini attached to a 23 ACD. The mini has the stock 512 mb of ram. I thought that the mini would be a great improvement over my powermac, but it seem to be the same or even slower. The is noticable when i have more then one apps open and accounts open. My mini should be faster then a g4 1ghz powermac right. I'm writing this on a macbook dual core 2.0 with 2 gig of ram and it is blazing fast a much more response. I know my macbook is better but it should be that much better. Okay, enough rambling.....will upgrading my mini to 2 gig of ram solve my problems?

BTW, I only use the mini for web, office, iApps, and other lite softwares.

Thanks.

yeah, i went from 2gb to 512mb in my macbook. It's dramatically slower now. I'd say that upgrading ram will solve your problems. While it's not going to get you as fast as the macbook (due to missing one core in the 1.5 core solo), it will help tremendously with overall responsiveness

From what i heard, unlike the dual core the solo can do with unmatching ram. So can i take out one of the 256 and put in a 1 gig stick. Like i mention earlier i'm a lite user, so can will 1.25 gig of total ram be enough or sould i spend the extra money and buy 2x1gig of ram...if 1.25 is good enough, will it run better if you use 2x512 sticks.

Thanks

Second time I've said this today:

"You can *never* have too much RAM."

Buy as much as you can afford. Modern OS's and apps love RAM and will always help performance.
