Hi all,

I just installed a 320 Gb drive on my Dual 2.0. Since I was thinking about eventually replacing the stock 160 Gb (to leave as a backup), I installed the 320 Gb on the top bay, leaving the 160 Gb (with OSX) on the lower bay, almost ready to be taken out... but not quite yet.

Will having the OS in the disk in the lower bay cause me any trouble?

I just started de mac and there was some particular screen blinking, but can I assume correctly that it was due to the fact that the 320 was not formated yet?

It doesn't say anything on the manual about bay order, but maybe somebody has had any experience similar to mine.

Thanks!

If this is a G5 tower then the bay order doesn't make any difference at all. There is a separate SATA controller for each of the bays and they do not interact in any way. The fact that the 320 was not formatted should NOT have caused any blinking on boot though. When an unformatted drive is installed there should be no indication of this fact until the desktop loads and you will get a prompt to format the drive.

it is a G5 PowerMac, sorry for not being specific.

Thanks Laurence for your reply, I rest assured now. The blinks are gone, I don't know what happened there.

Thanks again!
