Hi, I've got a Mac Mini (Intel Core Solo). The problem I'm having with it is that no matter what i do the fan spins at full speed, is there any way to force it to run at a lower speed. It gets very annoying and is surprising loud (for its size) at full speed. The system is up to date with regards to all the updates.

Any help appreciated.

Hi, I just tried that and it made no difference, I've also tried a reinstall of OS X but it doesnt help.

Any suggestions?

Have you installed anything (or has someone else installed anything) inside the mini at all? E.g. extra RAM?

If so, they may not have re-connected all the cables correctly. Watch the guide for the Intel mini at OWC:

Tech Center at OtherWorldComputing.com

I'm not sure if this will be the problem, but it is potentially what has happened... that little black cable at the front looks easy to forget to reconnect and it might be what regulates the fan.

Hi, thanks for that tip, opened the unit up, reconnected the wire and the Mac is now back back to its silent self.

Thanks for the input.
