This is an odd one (to me at least). It connects to the 'net fine in general, but Software Update refuses to connect, saying, "ensure you are connected to the Internet and then try again", which is a really helpful message I must say, but after trying again half a dozen times, I disobeyed it.

Also, when the machine was set to automatically sync date and time with a server in the preferences (this was set to on by default), I got the beachball when trying to open the date and time preferences, and had to turn off the airport to get it to load so I could turn the option off. Hmmm.

I also posted in the alternative operating systems forum regarding corrupted downloads on the Windows side on the same machine. One suggestion there was bad RAM, but I'm thinking airport card issues would be a better explanation. I've read a bit about such issues with the mini, but how does one go about tracking down the problem? My G4 PowerBook has no problems with the airport or anything, in the same place. Any thoughts?

Cheers.

Okay. All the things I've looked into have shown no issues with RAM or the airport. I'm back to thinking the OS X install is just bung.

It forgets the time and date, and what level the volume is at, on restart. I mean, who would do that?
