I just got new intel 20" iMac Core 2 Duo which it ROCKS!

Since I got used with my old iMac G5 with external iSight which I can twist of the lens cap to ensuring my privacy.

Now, I can't do the same thing with my new intel iMac. Any solutions?

Thanks

I don't understand the question. If you don't want the camera turned on, don't run any apps that use the camera. You can tell when the camera is on by the green light.

Indeed - the indicator light should be all you need.

Yeah, I know.

But what if I'm on video conferencing at that moment and I needed a privacy for a mintue? How do I block the view? I guess there's nothing we can do but put something to cover.

I see. Yeah, I guess you just put a post-it note over the lens. But with the old iSight, didn't twisting the lens shut down your video chat?

Yeah I've noticed the same issue possibly popping up with some people. I thought I saw somewhere that someone came up with nice looking little plastic clip that you put over the camera lens on the iMac, and it slides to the side to uncover the lens. I just can't remember where I saw it.

But a simple piece of paper or something similar would do the same job. It just wont be as pretty looking. But I know how much of a bummer it is to sully the looks of the beautiful iMac with some hacked together solution.

I'd just use a little piece of black electrical tape. Or the post-it is a good idea.

Yes and no. In Panther it did, but in Tiger it just made your screen black and continued the chat, at least with a multi-person chat. And there are stupid questions, but those are the ones that people are afraid to ask!
