So I got my mac pro today. After setting it up I've run into my my first problem. I ve plugged my external speakers into the mac on the back and there is no sound coming out of the speakers. However, If I plug the speakers into the from audio out jack I get sound. Checking above the audio out jack in the back the digital audio plug (above it) glows red. Did I get a damaged mac?
Any solution to fix this problem?

hi mate,
dont worry, all you need to do is go into system prefs > sound and change it to play through external speakers voila!

Thanks again for the information - its just embarrassing. I really like my machine so far - right now I'm in that state of "don't anyone bother me " Im transferring data.
If it wasn't for that one dead pixel on my cinema display it would have been a perfect day....
But thats another story. Thanks again
