hi all,

i am another switcher

i got a call from courier saying they will deliver my 24" imac tomorrow. i ordered on tue and the estimated arrival was next mon-wed. now they can do it on sat

questions:
- do i have to turn off computer when it's not in use?
- i have treo 650. do i really need 'missing sync' to sync my calendar and address book to ical?
- about parallel, can it support imac wireless interface?

1) No, you don't *have* to turn it off. But your electricity bill will thank you if you do (and it's good environmental karma).

2) If it's a Palm device, you should be able to just use iSync.

3) Parallels can, indeed, support the AirPort card in your iMac.

Although I cannot disagree with this advice, there is the other solution to put the computer in sleep mode when not in use. Waking it up and putting it in service takes just seconds. In sleep state, it consumes less than 4.5 W, according to Apple. For more information about the enviromental face of Apple, see here. The energy usage calculator may be useful too.
