Anecdotally, I think you can hear the difference when burned at 24x vs. 8x. 8x sounds better but to my ears, not as good as identical discs I burned at 1x or 2x on external Yamaha burners in the past. It could be different media accounting for it, but I am interested in trying to get my Mini to burn at 1x or 2x to compare. The only reason I notice is that I make batches of "test" CDs for comparing stereo components so I tend to listen to the same disc across many burns.

DON'T dig up ancient threads!!! The one you were posting to was almost a year old! Our General Forum Rules prohibit posting to a thread that's more than six months old.

On your subject, I'd love to do a blind test on you and anyone else who thinks they can hear a difference between CDs burned at different speeds. The data is identical-it has to be or the burn would fail-so I think you're "hearing" your preconceptions about how CD burning works. For the record, an audio CD is JUST DATA IN A PARTICULAR FORMAT. Nothing more or less.
