A friend of mine recently gave me her old Emac G4. She told me it just had a bunch of viruses and stuff *laugh* so I knew I was getting a great deal. So I took it home, turned it on and sure enough, the computer was really screwed up. Somehow she really messed up OS 10.3 so bad that I was gonna have to reinstall everything.
She didn't have any of the original restore discs so I borrowed some from another friend who has this exact EMac, but when I put them in and hold C while rebooting, they don't boot to the cd. The only disc that will boot is my 10.4 upgrade dvd.
So what I tried to do (this ended up being really dumb) is use disc utility in the 10.4 dvd to erase the harddrive. Don't ask me why, it was really dumb. Now I just have an Emac that won't boot to anything but the 10.4 dvd which is completely pointless.
Any ideas?
