My Mac Pro has finally shipped from Apple! Yesterday, it left Fullerton, CA and is currently on a flight to where I live. I will have it before 3:00 p.m. MST today - woohoo! I have been looking forward to this very much, since I have been without a Mac because I sold my Power Mac G4 (dual 1.25 GHz MD) on eBay about three months ago. Mac withdrawal symptoms...

I got the 3.00 GHz quad core Mac Pro with 1 GB RAM and 160 GB HD. This was a compromise so I could get the 3.00 GHz configuration. Within four months, I am going to add another 4 GB RAM from TransIntl or Crucial - more than likely the former though as I like their heatsinks much more.

I got my Mac Pro about two hours ago, and so far everything is going quite nicely. I am totally impressed with this new Macintosh, and it walks circles around my old Power Mac G4 (dual 1.25 GHz MDD).

The packing in the box is great too - styrofoam is wrapped around the entire computer to protect it. My box was a little banged up on the outside, but the inside of the box was fine. Worried there for a second... LOL

Also, I barely even hear the fans spinning. The sound that I do hear is when the HD is reading/writing. Otherwise, this computer is very quiet. My Power Mac G4 sounded like a lawn mower at times.

I'm quite happy with this purchase so far... I also got a new 21" ViewSonic CRT monitor - G225FB - to go with it. Sweet!

congratulations - I really like mine too. Coming from laptops, it was such a pain to get to the insides and now its so easy. Oh and the speed, oh the speed and multitasking abilities.

The speed and graphics quality is what I have noticed. After installing most of my software and restarting a couple of times, I get to the Desktop in less than 20 seconds - impressive!

It feels weird having this very large Macintosh on one of my tables. I also got my new iSight late this afternoon. Quite an eventful day I think.

The only bad news today is that Microsoft released Windows Vista today. LOL

I've been very impressed with my MacPro and I don't even have enough memory in the beast. I need to go to 4 gigs but being poor is keeping me at 2. That said, while the swap files do grow and I get a lot of page outs running aperture and photoshop at the same time, its still very fast.
