Hey
I have just purchased the new iMac 17" version with 512mb RAM, 160GB drive, and the Intel based graphics card.
I have been reading and notice most people recommend not going with the integrated video, although this is a system mostly for my kids.
My questions is this, can I upgrade the current RAM in the system easily or is it upgradeable at all?
Thanks a lot

I think he means the Integrated video memory.
Well if that's the case no it cant be done. Video memory cannot be upgraded. Its a decision you make before you make the purchase.

Since he has GMA950, video memory is automagically increased as necessary.

Actually I meant the physical RAM, as the video memory is taken from physical memory so that won't be an issue once upgraded to 2GB.

For the integrated video, it is apparently best if you keep your RAM sticks matched (i.e. if you want 1GB of RAM, it is better to have 2x512MB rather than 1x1GB of memory sticks).

Thanks, thats good to know. I plan on ordering 2x1GB sticks in the very near future as I will be using Photoshop CS2 on this system with Aperture.
