XP to Vista upgrade possible w/Mac?

I'm currently a PC user - planning to buy/switch to Mac early in '07.

Once I do so, I'll need to run Windows via Boot Camp or Parallels - haven't decided which yet.

I'm wondering if anyone knows - if I install XP using either Boot Camp/Parallels and want to upgrade to Vista - would I be able to buy the cheaper upgrade and have it install correctly (either running the upgrade in Windows, or having to start all over) - or would I have to buy the full non-upgrade version of Vista and start from scratch?

Just trying to minimize how much I'd have to shell out for Windows.

You'd have better luck if you'd asked in the correct forum. Hopefully a mod will move it to http://forums.macnn.com/alternative-operating-systems/ for you.

I think the upgrade edition should work fine, all it asks for is a previous Windows cd.
