Hello All,

Although I think I know which way I'm gonna go, I would like any opinions you guys have that could possibly help me (hopefully some I have not thought of yet). This will be my first Mac purchase!

I have a friend who has a 20" core duo (1gb, 250 HD) that he recieved as a birthday gift a couple of months ago. He does not want it and the box has never been opened (don't ask why, long story ). He will sell it to me for $1100. My main question is since I will only really be doing things like iTunes, internet, some light home movie editing, etc. is there any good reason I should spend the extra $$ for a core 2 duo with everything pretty much the same? Thanks!

Also, can I still purchase the Applecare warranty if I buy from my friend? Thanks again!!

No, the difference between CD and C2D is pretty marginal at this point.

Yes, you can buy AppleCare any time within the first year after the original sale.
