Well, I have officially owned my iMac G4 1.25Ghz 17" for 3 years now, I am officially out of my Applecare warranty, and not 1 problem to report! This Mac has been rock solid for 3 years and truly has been the best Mac experience I could imagine. I have encoded many many videos, created a TON of slideshows, managed all my family's photographs and cataloged our lives, all on this machine.

I started out being amazed at OS 10.3 Panther, and continued to be amazed with OS 10.4 Tiger. Soon I will be amazed with OS 10.5 Leopard and beyond. I have purchased iWork, Photoshop, Comic Life, Office 2004, and many other apps. I have used some of the best freeware for my needs including Inkscape. There has not been a week gone by that I have not been amazed at this machine and stared at in in awe.

I thank my friend Chris in Seattle for convincing me to move to the Macintosh platform when I did, as putting up with 100% Windows for the last 3 years (on top of the 8 years already under my belt) would have driven me away from computers. Since then I have had a LOT of fun learning what I can do with a Mac and also learning what a computer can actually DO for me. I have since purchased 2 Macs for my wife, and 3 other Macs for myself that have all served a purpose for me. I still have a PC in the house, but it is not used as often as the Macs, not by a long-shot.

Since my iMac was officially out of warranty I decided to take the bold step and open her up for a much needed internal memory upgrade. The non accessible slot finally has a 512MB stick of memory, and a fresh coat of thermal gel to keep her cool. Finally my iMac has been upgraded to the max of 1GB of memory and it is very nice indeed. Wireless was added along this journey with an Airport Extreme card, and some very sassy speakers to crank out the iTunes. an iPod was added this year and I believe I have truly become a "Mac guy". Heck, Even my keyboard and Apple mouse are still in use and work perfectly! Talk about sturdy!

Currently I have my iMac G4, and my trusty old iBook Clamshell G3 for my Mac needs, my wife has her new Macbook that replaced her iBook G4, and the future looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. Thanks for being the community you have been over the years and I look forward to many more. I hope I have been able to contribute something back as well over the last 3 years, and I look forward to doing more so in the future.

I just wanted to share this moment in time with everyone and hopefully, just maybe if a PC guy is taking a look, he might just read enough here or in other threads to convince him to join us on this journey as well.

Cheers mates and thank-you!

Indeed! I took a few hours of footage on the DV HD Camcorder, and the iMac is currently re-encoding it to 480p at the moment. We had a lot of fun, some awesome food, and playing in the snow my brother brought down from the mountains (and dumped on the lawn) was a blast.

All in all a great day.
