Hi guys, I want to install a new drive on my iMac DV.
I found a super cheap Hitachi Deskstar, 80GB, 7200rpm, Interno 3.5", Bufer 8MB. S-ATAII.
I wonder if it is 100% compatible. I´ll install O¡S X (10.4) on it.
Let me know
Thanks

It's 0% compatible. Sorry. You need a PATA drive (just plain IDE). No SATA or SATA II or anything else SATA.

I got a western digital for about $60 160 Gb (128Gb). You might try that. You Might have to put tiger on through the firewire boot option thingy...if it gives you any problems.

You can probably get an adapter board such as this one
SATA to IDE Converter from Addonics
but u'd have a really hard time getting it to fit, the iMac is a bit of a tight squeeze.
