I look forward to 8 core systems, but the reality is, few users could use such a system... and slightly faster (and cheaper) quad core systems could beat them in real world applications.

Until OS X and OS X applications become heavily threaded, we won't see much use for such systems. This is great for the server environment and specific scientific environments... I just don't see how useful this system would be beyond the "wow" factor.

Open up Activity Monitor and see how many threads you have running... on my parents iMac with just a couple consumer apps open, there were over 100 threads. Most of the pro software that needs the performance is already heavily threaded.
