A lot of you guys may think that its not a good time to buy a Mac a week before MWSF but I'm totally loving it. I dont think there will be a major upgrade for the Mac Pro at MWSF as its a PRO machine and will probably only get updated in summer. The only thing I see coming is maybe Quad Core CPUs and a better VGA. I dont need eight cores and VGA is always upgradeable.
I'm just waiting for the VGA power cable to arrive before I plug my flashed X1900XT on this beast. However, even without that and only 1GB of RAM, this monster is FAST- especially after I've added the 150GB Raptor and am using it as my boot drive. I was using the dual core 1.66 mini with an external Firewire HD and 2GB RAM and the Mac Pro totally blows it out of the water.
I've split the included 250GB drive into two and I'll be using one partition to store all the downloads and backups while the other half will have XP installed on it.
Apple has certainly built one of the best computers I've ever used with the Mac Pro. Its extremely fast and yet very very silent.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see an upgrade to the Mac Pro come Jan.
I'm not saying it will be the dual quad-core chips, but a bump wouldn't surprise me. Considering they are using Intel chips, they can pick and choose a bit more.

Congrats, it always feels good to get a new Mac especially the latest and greatest. Glad that you have the right attitude about buying your Mac Pro so close to Macworld. With that in mind don't get annoyed if a new Mac Pro is announced at Macworld or soon thereafter and has more sexier features than yours for the same price because there's always that possibility. Anyways have fun!

Nice man enjoy! I remember coming from my previous computer and first powering up mine, even the boot time is mind blowing. When it started up into OS X I thought something was wrong. I couldn't believe that it was actually up and ready to go. Not to worry, if they release the Clovertown and you can justify an upgrade anytime soon they will drop right into your current motherboard.

Four cores should be PLENTY for me. I really dont need eight cores- at least not in 2007 and the most stress this machine will get will be some photoshop and some garageband. I just need some RAM now- I'm thinking that 4GB should be plenty for 2007 for my usage.

I just got my Mac Pro about week ago although the thought of an eight core makes me drool (mmm eight core) I figure if I didn't get it now I'll never get it. When it comes to computers there's always a faster one coming next month.

So true. You will be waiting forever for the latest and greatest unless you put your foot down.
