my powermac g5 is too loud

when i turn the machine on for about 1 minute it stays quiet, but then kicks in to overdrive afterwards. any ideas on why?

its a dual 2ghz g5
3GB gigaram ((chimes correctly on boot)i know the ram is in properly)
no hard drives
64MB aTI video card.

Is the back of the tower in a poorly ventilated area? Are you sure you put the plastic thermal piece back in properly? Both of those things can cause the system to behave in that fashion. Have you checked the temperature readings with a utility to see if they're within normal range? Have you run the Apple Hardware Test disc?

Download Temperature Monitor and check the temperature regularly while working. What's the temperature when the machine is perceived to be loud?

Is the inside of the machine clean? What about dust near any of the fans?
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
