OK here is the deal. We have a school news show. We run the projector from my 24"iMac that constantly displays info behind the people doing news. We want to keep this set up but then if we show a short video, be able to just flip a switch and it shows the video from my computer on the TVs in the classroom. This would need to be a connection from my computer to the camera or the RF Modulator that we use. What do I need to do this? Any advise?

Your projector probably either has a VGA or DVI input on it. All you need is a mini-DVI out to VGA or DVI adapter from Apple.com. They are around $20.

I don't think that's the question. It sounds like they currently run the iMac to the projector, but they would like to make it possible to switch the iMac's output from the projector to all of the TVs.

I'll assume you have a Mini-DVI to VGA adaptor for going from the iMac to the projector.

You'll need a cable like this one the converts VGA to composite video or svideo. At this point you can run the video through a VCR or something to take it down to a standard RF connection. Now you need a way to switch the iMac between the projector cable and the adaptor cable. The simplest way would be to manually plug and unplug the cables, but then you'd have to detect displays and manually change the resolution of the external display on-the-fly. If you go that route I'd suggest practicing it a few times before you go 'live' to make sure there are no hiccups.
I think i would be easier to leave the iMac to do projector duty and get a separate computer for playing video. This would make things go a lot smoother.

I think i know what you're trying to do, but the problem is that this should be the responsibility of the director. The news director is the one that says "camera 1" " camera 2" "cut to field" . . . so he/she should have the switchboard to make sure what's being seen on the "live" feed.

but, if the iMac is the only thing you guys have with only one camera and one projector (i'd seriously complain to the school board about this), i don't think you will be able to do what you want to do without having to unplug stuff and making the audience wait.
