Hi all!

Since it's my first day here let me be as pollite to quickly introduce myself:
My name is Paul, I live in The Netherlands and study fine arts at the rietveld academy there.
Also, I bought the new mac mini superdrive last week which actually is my first mac ever so I would like to apologise in advance for my n00bness

Anyway, here are some questions. I hope someone will be as kind to answer them for me. Thanks for you help.

1) When surfing or (un)installing programs I feel like my mac leaves alot of stuff behind on the HD. I would like, just like my previous PC, to keep it as clean as possible for optimal performance. I installed the Internet Cleanup utility but I'm not so sure about the effectivity of this program. Any suggestions?
2) Is the built-in firewall OK or should I use another one?
3) Certain websites, i.e. livejournal (LiveJournal.com - Start a Free Blog / Journal Today) load extremely slow, or not at all. Any way to fix this?
4) You probately can't help me with this one, but certain programs frequently crash when running (i.e. Warcraft 3 or Second Life) which seems kind of odd to me for a new computer. Is it the hardware or the software?

My system info is as following:

Machine Name: Mac mini
Machine Model: Macmini1,1
CPU Type: Intel Core Duo
Number Of Cores: 2
CPU Speed: 1.83 GHz
L2 Cache (shared): 2 MB
Memory: 1 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
SMC Version: 1.3f4

if you need more info, just ask (and maybe tell me how to get it )

thx alot

Paul

Little Snitch is not a traditional firewall. It's an outbound traffic filter and is actually pretty nifty if you suspect unauthorized outbound connections. The OS X firewall is plenty to block ports to the outside, but there are more feature rich applications out there. Macworld: Feature: Test Report: OS X Firewalls

Try Firefox (Mozilla - Home of the Firefox web browser and Thunderbird email client), Camino (Camino - Mozilla power, Mac style.) or Opera (Opera web browser: Homepage) to see if they load pages you frequent any faster for you.

No idea what causes your crashes. You could look for any Intel/Universal Binary updates for those.
