STILL MORE iMac G5 hardware problems!

This one is a two-part problem.
So, far, here is what has been happening:

The iMac has been in repairs, and a full erase and one-by-one manual reinstall of my software was performed only less than a month ago.
So, two problems:
[1] Sometimes, when I ground myself against the top metal back of the chair (it's an old, working $5 chair, not the new overpriced, maintenance-dependent leather BS), and my iMac is in sleep mode, it wakes up! This was a problem EVEN BEFORE the logic board was replaced.
[2] Sometimes, when I try to connect to the internet (dial-up) after waking my computer from sleep, as soon as I hit the Connect button, I get the following error, and the connection attempt ends: "Could not open the communication device." For a while, even before erasing and reinstalling my software, I simply tried again to connect, and, after two or three attempts, it worked. Now, I have to put my computer back to sleep and wake it up again before the "communication device" opens correctly and before I can get back onto the internet.
I feel that both problems are related.
Now what the hell is going on??

Way to go, Apple... Updated to 10.4.9 through the Combo, and [2] still exists. [1] probably still exists, as well. The following thing that I'll be doing is testing hardware ports and disconnecting devices from the computer... USB hub, two Firewire cables, dial-up modem, regular audio out and in, USB for scanner, USB for iPod nano. Any other suggestions?
EDIT: That didn't help, as I figured.

For 1, I hope you are using a surge protector. Discharging yourself is sending spikes to the computer that may be causing it to wake up. For 2, I'd say get high-speed internet. Barring that, use a surge protector that includes phone connections. Also try other phone outlets and cables. It doesn't sound like you've tried too many things on your own to fix this.

Negative. I'm using a Monster Cable box. But maybe I should make the connection to my iMac on its own plug at the back of the box rather than on an extension cord.

That would never have occurred to me. But then why would these kinds of problems only start up over the course of the past 3 or 4 months when I've used my iMac for over a year??
EDIT 1: I'm having troubles getting both lines 1 and 2 to work by using the Monster Cable ports on the back. For some reason, no matter what combination of connections I have, I can only use one line or the other. Will troubleshoot again if necessary.

That's absolutely false. Look at the number of things that I've tried to fix other problems with my iMac:
My iMac G5 has bizzare...
and I've done similar troubleshooting with the problems described in this thread.

Another update.
None of the above suggestions worked, and I think that a UPS for just these issues is ridiculous, since the two problems originally never used to occur. Short of another full erase and reinstall, I'm still out of ideas.

i don't think an erase and install is going to solve any of your problems. they sound to me like problems with the hardware, not the software

Well, now, it might be a software issue...
The pattern with [2] seems to be the following:
--> I can boot up the computer, put it to Sleep as many times as I want, and then go online. No problem.
--> Once I go online and put the computer to sleep, I have to put the computer to Sleep not once, but twice before I can get back on. (And, even then, it's a 10 second wait.)
So, this sounds like a screwed up boolean that seems to be set to "true" the first time that I go on the internet, "false" when I put the computer to sleep the first time, and back to "true" when I wake it up a second time.
Similarly, after I use the internet again, if I put the computer to sleep a third time and try to connect, then, nope. A fourth time, wake it up, wait 10 seconds, and we're set to go again.
I've ran Onyx and have done more PRAM resets, but they all only seem to work for only a very short while. So, how would I go about checking to see what network booleans would be affected by going into (and coming out of) sleep mode?
