A friend of mine bought a 20" iMac G5 a while ago. Recently, he told me his display would flicker after sleeping. He said it wouldn't do that if he put the iMac to sleep, but if just the display slept, it would start to flicker as soon as he woke it. Any ideas what's going on here?

It flickers until he restarts the iMac.

First try an SMU reset (iMac G5: How to Reset the SMU) if that doesn't do anything, I'd say it's an inverter board issue (if it's an iSight model, it may be a DC to DC board issue,) and he should bring it to a service centre.
