My hard drives have four partitions and right now there are icons on my desktop for each one. I only want two to show but don't know how to hide the two I don't need to see. Can someone please help me hide two of these icons?

Thanks in advance,

You'll note for future reference that such a question belongs in the Mac OS X forum.

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you. I don't know of a way to selectively show only some mounted hard drives on the desktop and not others. I don't suspect there is a way to accomplish that other than to, perhaps, unmount the partitions by dragging them to the trash after each login.

No need to apologize. Maybe I can find a better answer somewhere. . . Okay, here are better answers. You can use the Terminal to do one of the following:

1. Place a . in front of the names of the partition you want to hide (should work, but I haven't tested it);
2. Add a .hidden file to the desktop with the name of the partition you want to hide (again, should work, haven't tested);
3. If you want to actually leave those partitions unmounted instead of just hidden on a per user basis, edit fstab as described here.
