Hi all,

My extern HD a Porsche 80 Gb died on the floor last Friday. Now I will go for an intern one for my Mac Pro 2.66!
Searching the NNforums give me a dazzled head.. but found a great link:
http://eshop.macsales.com/MyOWC/Upgr...=Show+Upgrades

And my choice is a 320GB Western Digital Caviar SATA Enterprise Edition 16MB Cache 7200rpm
http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Weste...ital/WD3200YS/

A good choice or...?

Now for being sure, this Western Digital fits in my Mac Pro bay(s)?
Another Question is:
Is this HD faster or better then my original HD (WDC WD2500JS-41SGB0)?
Can I boot from it?
What about the noise it produces.... has someone some experience with it?

Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Big G.

It will fit fine. No obvious reason it would be any slower than your stock drive, might well be faster. Personally, the feature I look for most in drives is the warranty and 5 years is as good as it gets.
You should be able to boot from it just fine. No idea about noise.

Thanks Waragainstsleep.

If it is faster, then maybe I can chance it to my primary drive and use the stock HD as storage?

Thanks,
Regards,
Big G.

I have 2x Western Digital drives in my MP and they do not produce too much sound.
the only problem is that it seems to rumble at times but a little push does the trick

As usual, OWC's prices are stupidly high... Newegg has the same drive for $30 (25%) less.
