I've had a Mac Pro for about 6 months. I use the mouse that came with it, which looks like my previous Mac mouse but it has a roller ball on it.
Am I the only idiot who didn't realize that it has two-button capability even though it does not appear to have two buttons? I set the option in the System Preferences pane to associate the right side of my mouse with "secondary button," and now I have a 2-button mouse. DUHHHHHH.

sorry but your only a little bit of an idiot
I can go back after using the Mighty Mouse, they work great
BTW I love how Apple mad a mouse that has the ability to have two types of clicks with out actually having two buttons which has been a big Windoz dis for a long time. We get the functionality with out the PC zealots getting say 'haha, told you'.

I hate to be a jerk, but imitchell is right, it has been around for a long time, they even have a wireless one now too, which is awesome.

It actually has four buttons, not two!
(I thought I'd save you the additional 1.5 years of waiting to figure that out)

I do really like how they finally swallowed their pride and included mice that have the right-click.
However, while I like the mighty mouse I still use a 3rd party.

Hehe. Happens to the best of us.
And mutelight is right - it's about time they came with a two-button mouse. Now if there was only some way to get them to include that functionality in their MBP line...

Enable and option in System Preferences, and you can place two fingers on the trackpad, click, and have right click.

Using a Mighty Mouse, or using a track pad. If you are having trouble right-clicking the Mighty Mouse then be sure that the finger that performs the left click is slightly lifted as is not touching the mouse on the left side (over the left button).

This is a great thread. After I learn to use this "mouse" thing, I'll have to learn to use that board with all the letters on it!
I had previously used a G4 Powerbook, and an iBook before that. I temporarily used my friend's G4 PowerMac (the earliest version), and that had a puck mouse that had one button (as far as I know). I did get a wireless mouse for my Powerbook, but that has only one button (I just checked).
So far I'm the only one who admitted to not knowing that the Mac Pro has a two (plus) button mouse. I did know about the squeezie button and the roller ball button.

The problem is the default settings in system prefs does not enable the right-click, it should have been set this way by default (IMHO) If nothing else a sticky or something on the mouse telling users how to make full use of the mighty mouse features by checking the system prefs..

It's handy having that feature. But I would prefer a second button like on Windows notebooks.

Make sure your left finger is not touching the mouse when you do a second click. The mouse uses a static touch sensor on the surface, so if you're touching the left button, it won't know which one you meant to click.

Anybody else have problems with their supermouse jumping the pointer across the screen at times?
I have had my mac pro for about 3 weeks now and the mouse pointer jumps randomly to different parts of the screen and it is hard to find the pointer with dual 22" screens!
This common or a defective mouse? I am thinking of getting a different type but i like the side scroll capibility of the super mouse.
This is a wired type Supermouse

Who makes your Supermouse? You'll have to consult the manufacturer I think.

yeah, that's funny that you didn't know what a mighty mouse was.. don't all the pictures on the label, and instructions, and everything show 2 buttons?
btw, I HATE having a 2 button click on a laptop computer.. I always use the full click depending on which hand I am using... if using my right hand, it is a stretch to get to the left click button...

Are you using it on a reflective (or even partially reflective) surface? Even shiny wood surfaces can cause this problem.

The only time that my mouse pointer has jumped randomly is when I use the mouse on a multi-colored surface. If I use it on a surface that is dark and a single color, it works as advertised.
