After updating to OS 10.4.9, my 24" iMac's speakers became VERY loud.
Is there a way to lower the system volume?
Right now with the lowest system volume, going to a webpage with quicktime audio/video produces very loud audio and I have to manually lower the volume of the quicktime plugin every single time it loads.... getting frustrating. Is there a way to lower the default volume of the quicktime plugin? It always seems to load with 100% volume.

You can't possibly not have tried the keys on the keyboard.

As I said, "with the lowest system volume" i.e. the least volume you can set with your keyboard without completely turning off your speakers.

usually your iMac speakers are not that loud even when at 100%. (some people would want this loudness upgrade)

I would mute them for now and wait for other people to complain. -Eventually Apple will fix it.

well.. I can see the usefulness of this increased volume like when watching a full screen DVD. But for everyday use the lowest volume is too loud unless the audio is at a very low bitrate.
So I want the speakers to be as loud as they are with the 4.9 update but I wish Apple expanded the scale of the volume bar.
Currently there are 16 levels you can set your volume at with the keyboard.. maybe they should increase it to 30 so you have more control over the volume.... maybe in Leopard.

btw has anyone tried playing a audio/video in VLC at the highest VLC+system volume after the 4.9 update? you will be surprised at the capabilities of your iMac's speakers. I didn't turn it up all the way... but its REALLY LOUD!!
