I have 2 imacs, both G3 trays, 233 and 333. I am trying to swap a 256Mb RAM module from the rev A 233 to the rev D 333 (On which I am running 10.3.9).
It won't boot up with the 256MB, but will when I replace the 128MB. (It also has 64MB in the lower slot)
Also, when I tried to put the 256BM back into the 233 Bondi, it didn't boot up, either. It has been running 9.2.2 with 284MB total (the 256, + 32 in the lower slot), but now it only boots with the 32MB.
Am I maybe missing a step in booting up the imacs after changing RAM? Zapping PRAM, or something? The Bondi runs Classic fine even with less RAM, but Panther runs too slow on the 333. I need that 256MB module to work in the 333.
Thank you.

It's entirely possible you zapped the RAM when you transferred it, killing it, if you weren't grounded. Put it back in the 233 and zap the PRAM. Hopefully this fixes the problem if the module is not toast.

Thanks, Steve, zapping the PRAM did the trick!
(sorry it took me so long to respond back, too many projects, etc).
