my DA G4 is coming into its seventh year this year and i was just wondering which operating system they originally came with. i can't remember. it is now running 10.4.9 so it has had a few updates since i bought it and am just curious.

Good machines just keep going, don't they? I'm pretty sure the DA G4s all came with MacOS 9.1. Depending when you bought it, OS X 10.0 may have been preinstalled too. Enjoy!

Apple History and that says OS9.1 is the minimum OS

This Every Mac Also has some interesting data on the power macs.

My DA had both 9.2 (but with 9.1 discs) and 10.0 preinstalled. Wish I had the 10.0 discs.... I got 10.4.9 on it right now and it does great.

Download MacTracker. Gives you every bit f info on every mac.. EVER! Even clones.

It will even play the start up sounds.. lol
