Yes, but 250GB is behind the price/capacity curve these days... 400GB is only $30 more for 60% more space... put a different way, 28 cents/gig for the 250 vs 25 cents/gig for the 400. And your storage needs are only going to increase in the future.

Unless you're making an array, I'd recommend the NS series of drives from Seagate. Seagate says that "the NS drives are support to have an additional vibrational dampener to deal with the rotational vibrations caused by drives stacked next to eachother" (source: Infrant Site Admin). While the Mac Pro would likely have these installed side-by-side, the additional dampener would likely improve life (I'd guess). The NS series is intended for 24/7 operation, and they're not much more than the AS series counterparts. I just ordered a pair of the 16MB Cache 400GiB ST3400620NS to go in my new Mac Pro. While I'm getting them from my CDW/MacWarehouse account rep., PriceGrabber shows that they can be had for $132 ea.

Well, I found a 400 gb seagate drive for $99 on newegg with free shipping (and no tax). I ordered it. The apple store sells the similiar drive but in a 500gb for $329.
Sad to say a few months ago I bought a 120GB seagate IDE drive from compusa for roughly $130 for my old Dell. Amazing.
