Hi

Ive recently purchased a Sony Handycam, which records onto dvd. It uses mini dvds, and before putting them onto my iMac, i thought i better check to see that they dont get stuck. Ive read numurous stories of people getting the small discs stuck in there machine. I was wondering, does the iMac have anything that can accept the mini dvds? If they dont, then does anyone have any ideas with what i can do?

Thanks

Chris

You can try one of these:

Amazon.com: Memorex 3-Inch CD/DVD Adapter 3-Pak: Electronics

Either that or use an external firewire DVD drive that has the normal tray-style mechanism.
For all the trash I talk, I sure own a lot of Macs...

Thanks. That adapter looks promising. Does it allow you to use the dics again e.g. take them out of the adapter? This may be a silly question, but i wouldnt have thought you would need 3.

The external firewire dvd drive will let you connect a miniDVD to the mac but I am not sure if you can open the files. Please check the thread below. I ran into it when I was doing research on camcoders.

Using Sony mini-DVD camcorder with mac? | Ask MetaFilter

"Cannot put mini-DVDs into the mac's disc drive because the Sony format (VRO files) are not compatible with any mac software, and so far as my research has shown, there is no program that will convert Sony VRO files (as opposed to Hitachi VRO files) into a mac-usable format."
