I'm trying to find a VGA adapter for my 20" intel Imac so I can hook it up to a SmartBoard... I have an old adapter but it appears to be an older one and is thinner by half compared to the port on the back of my imac... i've been through the apple/store site and it is not specific as to which adapter I need...

has anyone any idea which one I should order?... or is there a generic one I can get from my local computer store?

You need a mini-DVI to VGA adapter - what you already have is a mini-VGA to VGA adapter, which only works with pre-Core Duo iMacs.
