So I got the newest and greatest AppleTV with 802.11n, so I guess it's fast network streaming time right? Wrong, when all of your media lives on the internal drives of a Powermac G5. Booooo.

I am not aware of any 802.11n capable upgrade for my Dual 1.8. Has anyone heard of anything different? Why Apple do you not provide a PCI/USB upgrade to 802.11n?

Get an Airport extreme, sit it beside the G5 and plug the G5 in via ethernet. If/when someone comes out with an upgrade for the old G5s, it will probably cost about the same anyway.
To be honest, 802.11n is nowhere near the claimed speeds. But then neither is 802.11g if you actually test it thoroughly. You would probably be better off laying an ethernet cable between G5 and ATV. Unless your house several miles long.

G should work just fine for streaming video, even HD.
