I auto updated my system a couple weeks ago and now the volume has increased. On the lowest setting it is much louder than it used to be. I'm not using external speakers.
The system update was to 10.4.9
I have zapped the p-ram and no change. It is an intel iMac 20". Any ideas?

Damn, I was hoping you were going to tell me your optical audio volume was adjustable.

It's normal - Apple boosted the sound output volume on all models with 10.4.9.

You have got to be kidding. This is crazy. Anyway to get it back the way it was?

Revert to 10.4.8?
In all seriousness, I don't know. There might be a third-party patch.

waiting for the patch..
Although it is nice to play louder, the speakers are WAY TOO loud at the lowest possible settings... have to use headphones/external speakers to have a broader range for volume control.
